Prosecutors in the Zhetysu region identified more than 300 violations of sanitary and epidemiological standards and fire safety in the region's educational institutions.
According to the department's press service, near 5 schools in the region there were no pedestrian crossings or "Children" signs. Two schools in the Sarkand district and Taldykorgan were found to be not fully fenced, which allowed unauthorised persons to easily access their grounds.
In 60 schools, most CCTV cameras were not working, and only some of them were connected to central police operational control rooms.
"25 schools were operating with expired sanitary permits, and in some cases there were instances of storing expired medicines and food products for students. In 17 schools, cases of students having free access to prohibited internet content were found", the statement says.
Furthermore, prosecutors discovered that three security guards working in the region's schools had criminal records. For example, one of them had previously been sentenced to 11 years in prison for possession of narcotics on an especially large scale.
At the same time, it became known that a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the embezzlement of budget funds by accountants from the education department of the Kerbulak district.
Regarding the identified violations, the department issued 40 supervisory orders to rectify the breaches, brought 135 individuals to administrative responsibility, and 41 individuals to disciplinary responsibility.
