The prosecutor's office of the West Kazakhstan Region stopped violations of the rights of 1,248 children by cancelling government procurement worth more than 71 million tenge.

According to the press service of the department, the education department of the Syrym district announced 9 tenders worth 71,720,388 tenge for organising meals for 1,248 primary school pupils in rural schools.

Having studied the tender documentation, prosecutors found that the menu developed by the education department did not meet sanitary and epidemiological requirements.

It became known that on certain days children were not given milk, sugar and butter, which should be part of the daily diet.

At the same time, the menu included a salad of 5 ingredients, which is a violation of the requirements of the order of the Minister of Health approving the sanitary rules "Sanitary and Epidemiological Requirements for Public Catering Facilities".

Also, instead of the prescribed 200 grammes of juice, the volume of this drink in the menu was understated to 165 grammes. As a result, following a protest by the prosecutor's office of the Syrym district, the tenders were cancelled.

Recall that earlier it was reported that from January to April 2024, the Anti-Corruption Service prevented inefficient spending of budget funds worth 12.4 billion tenge. It was noted that the most common findings were inflated costs of fuel and lubricants (23%), stationery (19%), food products (6%), and premises rental (6%).
