In the village of Myrzatai, Baizak district, Zhambyl region, 12 schoolchildren complained of nausea, vomiting, headache and weakness. A few hours before their health deteriorated, the children bought sandwiches and burgers from a shop opposite the school.
According to ORDA, all those affected were taken to the Baizak District Hospital, where they were examined in the infectious diseases department.
As medical staff reported, the children's condition is stable, with no threat to their health — they received the necessary medical care.
On the instructions of the regional governor, the head of the regional education department and representatives of the district administration travelled to the village. They are investigating the circumstances of the mass poisoning.
It is noted that 388 children are enrolled in the school in the village of Myrzatai, of whom 158 receive free meals.
Previously, it was reported that in Arkalyk, 85 people suffered food poisoning after a party held at a local café. Those affected were hospitalised in medical facilities in the region. According to one of the female attendees, the event was held to mark a relative's 60th birthday.
Later, Salmonella enteritidis was identified in two café employees, matching the pathogen found in patients. It was noted that asymptomatic carriers among the staff may have been the source of the infection.
