In nursery school No. 29 in Aktau, only 5 portions of food were served to 12 children for breakfast, and 4 for dinner. While some children ate, others watched. As a result, more than half of the children regularly went without enough food at the educational institution. According to inAktau.kz, parents were able to find out about this thanks to surveillance cameras.
It is reported that the education department of the Mangystau Region commented on the video footage that had outraged parents.
"It was established that during breakfast, the teacher of group No. 7 gave the children insufficient food. She explained this by saying that these children had previously not eaten breakfast regularly, and food was left over. Therefore, it was served in small portions. Disciplinary measures have been taken against the teacher. The nursery school management has apologised to the parents.", the regional education department reported.
Shortly before the department's comment, it was reported that a special commission would be formed in the city education department regarding the incident. It was expected to begin its work already.
What profit the nursery school staff managed to make from the saved food products that the children did not receive has not yet been reported.
For context, earlier a court for administrative offences in Kostanay fined a nursery school teacher for assaulting two children. In the end, the woman got off with a fine of 92,300 tenge.
At the same time, it was reported that at secondary school No. 1 in the village of Zerenda, Akmola Region, children were fed leftover food. Former cook Meruert Kulagnanova said that on the instructions of the canteen manager, staff collected leftover food, stored it in the freezer, and then gave it to children of the second shift.
