The inter-district criminal court of Shymkent has examined the criminal case of a school's chief accountant. She was accused of embezzling and laundering budget funds on an especially large scale.
According to the press service of Shymkent courts, the accused misappropriated entrusted property, causing material damage to the state in the amount of 451,173,978 tenge.
With the stolen money, the woman purchased a car, apartments, a land plot, and securities, thereby legalising the criminally obtained funds and property.
The defendant's guilt was confirmed by witness testimony, physical evidence, the results of covert investigative actions, and other materials in the case.
The accused fully admitted her guilt, sincerely repented, and asked the court to defer the sentence.
In the end, the court found the school accountant guilty and sentenced her to 8 years in prison. The court's verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
Recall that earlier in the Turkestan region, sentences were handed down to 46 employees of the Zhetysay District Education Department. They were found guilty of misappropriating entrusted property. Among the defendants were two heads of department and 44 school accountants. The damage caused by their actions amounted to more than 4 billion tenge.
