85 homes remain without heating in the city of Saran, Karaganda region. Local authorities have failed to get the new heating plant up and running.
Now the city mayor Yerkin Baulikov has stated on his Instagram page that the city will temporarily revert to old local boiler houses. Residents who were connected to the central boiler house this year have been promised a recalculation of their electricity bills.
The mayor apologised to residents for the inconvenience caused, but citizens left without heating continue to criticise local authorities on social media.
"We're fed up with these slogans and calls to be patient. Everything should have been done on time, not in September on the eve of the heating season. They were laying pipes through the swamp in September; what is there to say," local residents write under the mayor's post.
According to weather forecasters, on the night of 14 October in Saran it was -5°C.
Incidentally, the mayor of Saran wrote back in September that heating in the city would be turned on as soon as the thermometer dropped to +10°C.
"Dear residents of the city of Saran, we inform you that the heating season will begin when the average daily outdoor temperature reaches +10 °C or below for five consecutive days," that post read.
