Mazhilis deputy Yermurat Bapi has commented on the recent assassination attempt on journalist Aidos Sadykov in Ukraine.
According to MIA "Kazinform", Bapi believes that representatives of the "Old Kazakhstan" may be behind it.
"I know Aidos and Natalya Sadykov. We had close communication. They are professional journalists. As for the versions, I think it's pure provocation. Some of our internet resources report that supposedly the authorities of Kazakhstan are behind this incident. Why would the authorities initiate such stupidity? It is not beneficial from any side, it does not fit the logic. Here, most likely, it is either a representative of 'Old Kazakhstan' or third forces who are pitting Kazakhstan against, for example, Russia or other countries, maybe even Ukraine,", the deputy noted.
The assassination attempt on journalist Aidos Sadykov in Kyiv became known on 18 June. Later, his wife Natalya Sadykova stated that two citizens of Kazakhstan shot at her husband. According to her, they were Meiram Karataev and Altai Zhakanbaev. Incidentally, Karataev worked in the internal affairs bodies of Kazakhstan until 2019.
In turn, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported that, on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a pre-trial investigation was launched into the assassination attempt on the journalist.
"An investigative-operational group has been created for the criminal case, which is carrying out the necessary operational-search activities aimed at solving the crime and detaining the suspects," the report states.
It is reported that the Prosecutor General's Office has taken the progress of the criminal case investigation under special control.
