Convicted vice-president of "Kazakhfilm"

The Vice-President of Shaken Aimanov Kazakhfilm National Film Studio JSC has been convicted in Almaty. 

According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Bostandyk District Court of Almaty has passed a sentence on the former Vice-President of Kazakhfilm, Serik Zhubandykov

He was convicted for the theft of the ‘Turkestan City’ prop fortress, built at a price 44 times below market value, as part of the film project ‘Nomad’

As a result, the court found Serik Zhubandykov guilty and sentenced him to a term of imprisonment of 5 years suspended. At the same time, the fortress and the land plot on which the structure is located were returned to state ownership. 

Earlier, the Almaty City Prosecutor's Office identified the embezzlement of budget funds on an especially large scale during an inspection of Shaken Aimanov Kazakhfilm JSC. 

It was also reported that the Anti-Corruption Agency suspects the former President of Kazakhfilm JSC of corruption in the sale of the ‘Turkestan’ prop fortress, which was built as part of the film project ‘Nomad’.
