The National Security Committee (NSC) has dismantled an international drug smuggling channel.
According to the press service of the agency, a record single shipment of cocaine weighing 13 tonnes 183 kg was seized in Almaty, the largest in the country's history.
It was reported that the cargo was intended for further transit through Kazakhstan to other countries. Two foreign nationals were detained on suspicion of involvement in organising the drug channel.
A pre-trial investigation is underway under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation for the purpose of sale, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their analogues").
Earlier, in Kostanay, a group of individuals who organised the drug shop "Thс Seller" on Telegram, through which more than 2,000 customers purchased drugs, were sentenced. The total turnover exceeded 100 million tenge.
