The Interdistrict Criminal Court of Oskemen has concluded its examination of the criminal case against 14 members of an organised criminal group (OCG). The court found them guilty of offences related to the production and distribution of pornographic material.
WHAT IS KNOWN
According to the prosecutor's office of the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR), the investigation established that the OCG members had been carrying out unlawful activity from 2018 to 2024.
The group operated not only within the territory of the EKR, but also in several regions of Kazakhstan. The prosecutor's office reported that the members derived a steady income from this activity.
WHAT THE COURT ESTABLISHED
During the court proceedings, the prosecution presented evidence of the defendants' involvement in the offences with which they were charged.
As reported by the EKR prosecutor's office, the court found the guilt of all 14 OCG members to be fully proven.
Each of them was sentenced to imprisonment, although the specific terms for individual convicts were not stated in the publication.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
CONTEXT
In June 2026, law enforcement agencies reported the detention in Almaty of the alleged organisers of the internet resource Kizdar․net. According to the investigation's version, from 2011 the site had been used to place advertising and arrange the provision of paid intimate services, as well as to advertise and promote procuring via the internet.
According to law enforcement agencies, the alleged illegal income from the platform's activity exceeded 2 billion tenge. The actions of those detained have been classified under part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Organisation or maintenance of brothels for prostitution and procuring").
Furthermore, on 19 June 2026, the Specialised Interdistrict Criminal Court of the North Kazakhstan Region (NKR) found six members of a transnational organised group guilty in a case concerning aiding and abetting procuring via a website. The group's leader was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and the remaining members to 8 years each.
