In the village of Kyzyltu, Budennovsky Rural District, Mendykarinsky District of Kostanay Region, a quarantine has been introduced following the detection of brucellosis in large cattle (LC).
According to the International News Agency "Kazinform", the disease was found in 5 out of 132 examined head of LC.
"Of the five samples of pathological material taken from the animals, all gave a positive result using the PCR method. According to the veterinary measures plan, 132 head of large cattle were tested for brucellosis this year", the Kostanay Region Veterinary Department reported.
In accordance with veterinary and sanitary regulations, restrictive measures have been introduced in the village.
"Health improvement measures are planned, which will include systematic laboratory tests every 15–20 days until two consecutive negative results are obtained", the statement said.
It is noted that the work will be carried out by specialists from the Republican Anti-Epizootic Unit. Possible sources of infection spread could be animals that test positive for brucellosis and uncontrolled movement of livestock.
In total, the village of Kyzyltu has 225 head of LC, 555 head of small cattle, and 47 horses.
For reference, in February a quarantine due to brucellosis was declared in the Karabalyk District of Kostanay Region. At that time, the disease was detected in several dozen animals.
