Information has spread on social media that the prosecutor of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Timur Chakpantayev, is suspected of assaulting his subordinates Yarkov and Merenbayev.

According to the Telegram channel "HALYQSTAN", the incident occurred on the night of 31 August to 1 September. It is reported that the prosecutor was in a state of alcohol intoxication, called his colleagues to his office, and assaulted them. Furthermore, it is alleged that he roused staff with a false alarm at two o'clock in the morning without cause.

It is reported that the victims filed a statement, after which a criminal case was opened against Chakpantayev under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Intentional infliction of minor harm to health").

The Prosecutor's Office of the East Kazakhstan Region confirmed that an internal investigation is being conducted into the city prosecutor.

"In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan 'On Law Enforcement Service', he has been temporarily suspended from his post until a decision on his liability is made. Regarding the information concerning other employees of the Ust-Kamenogorsk prosecutor's office, internal investigations had previously been conducted into these circumstances. The facts were partially confirmed, and the said employees were brought to disciplinary responsibility for violating the norms of official ethics," the department reported.

It has become known that other scandalous episodes related to the work of the city prosecutor's office have been mentioned previously. For instance, prosecutor Uporov allegedly got behind the wheel while intoxicated and escaped punishment, while the name of the aforementioned prosecutor Yarkov appeared in media reports in connection with a visit to a sauna.

For context, it was previously reported that the prosecutor of Aktau was detained at Almaty airport for a "drunken brawl". The incident occurred at the end of August during his holiday.

On 10 September, the case was dismissed due to the absence of an administrative offence. However, on 11 September, the Main Transport Prosecutor's Office announced an inspection into the legality of the court's decision to dismiss the case against Abdirov.

Later, the court of appeal found the conclusions of the lower court to be unfounded. The court proved the prosecutor's guilt in committing minor hooliganism and sentenced him to a fine of 78,640 tenge. It was noted that Yerbolat Abdirov was temporarily suspended from his post pending the completion of all checks.
