Quite recently, a petition appeared on the official online platform epetition.kz entitled "For the Growth of People's Incomes! For the Development of Industry!". To date, the petition has been supported by over 13,000 Kazakh citizens. This includes representatives of industrial enterprises.
For context, the authors of the petition advocate "for the active development and support of local production", which, in their view, would help establish the economic sovereignty of the state.
The petition was supported on social media by official representatives of the company "Qarmet", employees of the Karaganda Foundry and Machine-Building Plant (KLMP) of the "Kazakhmys" group, companies within the "Imstalcon" group, employees of the "QazTehna" plant, and many others.
Different cities, different people, different words, but the essence of the comments is the same: the fates of thousands of Kazakh citizens are being decided in the 'battle' against the recycling fee.
"Hundreds of thousands of Kazakh citizens work in industry, at large, medium and small enterprises. We are united by one thing – the desire to create our own, to live in a developed country where there is no shortage of specialists who can build factories, bridges, dams and thermal power plants. Without a strong industry, this will not happen! Behind each of us is a family, children. This means that hundreds of thousands of people today depend on how domestic production and mechanical engineering will develop", states one of the appeals.
It is clear that in such a short time, the petition has already captured public attention. It is quite possible that for many Kazakh citizens, the very existence of such a number of domestic production facilities in the country came as news.
One thing is known for certain today — industry in Kazakhstan is developing slowly but surely. And to throw a spanner in the works at this stage is criminal.
