Court No.2 of the Almaly District in Almaty considered a patient's claim against a medical centre for compensation for material and moral damages.

According to the court's press service, the woman went to the clinic for treatment of diabetes complications and paid 420,000 tenge for the services. However, her health did not improve; on the contrary, the disease progressed.

Later, the patient had to go to another medical facility, where doctors treated the consequences of the poor-quality treatment. In the end, they had to amputate a toe on her right foot.

The plaintiff stated that she had suffered serious physical pain and moral harm. She demanded the return of part of the money paid and compensation for the damage.

The court, taking into account the defendant's admission of the claim, upheld the patient's demands and ordered the medical centre to pay 120,000 tenge in material damages and 500,000 tenge in moral damages.

Recall that previously in the Mangystau region, a patient's spouse accused a cardiac surgeon of causing serious harm to health. According to her, the doctor damaged the patient's liver during the operation. Police opened a criminal case regarding the improper provision of medical care.
