In the Mangystau region, a patient’s wife accused a cardiac surgeon of causing grievous bodily harm. According to her, during the operation the doctor damaged the patient’s liver.

As reported by Informburo.kz, a 56-year-old resident of Zhanaozen was admitted to hospital a month ago with complaints of chest pain, and underwent a routine operation.

The patient’s wife, Roza Dybysova, said she could not get into her husband’s ward for five days, which raised her suspicions. Later, a hospital employee gave the woman an audio recording of a medical meeting where complications were discussed.

‘The doctor’s assistant called me over and said: “His lung has turned black.” He asked strange questions: whether a rib had been damaged, whether my husband played sports,’ Dybysova reported.

The woman claims that the cardiac surgeon cut the patient’s liver during the operation and subsequently tried to cover up his mistake. No official comments have yet been received from the regional health department.

The police department of the Mangystau region confirmed that a criminal case has been opened under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for improper provision of medical care. The patient’s condition remains critical, and he is in intensive care.

Earlier, a resident of the village of Zerenda in the Akmola region accused doctors of negligence, which she says led to the loss of her child late in her pregnancy. According to the woman, complications could have been avoided with timely medical care.
