The Akimat of Almaty has filed a lawsuit against the owner of the Kazakhstan hotel over the reconstruction of a fountain, part of which was turned into a swimming pool.

According to Informburo.kz, the construction and installation work was carried out there without the necessary permits.

"Work on the site has been suspended, and in relation to the owner, the limited liability partnership 'Crown Star', measures have been taken under Articles 316 and 321 of the Administrative Code following an unscheduled inspection, with an order issued to eliminate the violations. As of today, the administration is initiating a lawsuit to enforce the order," the Almaty Culture Department reported.

The department added that the hotel building is listed in the state register of urban historical and cultural monuments of local significance. At the same time, it noted that the fountain is not part of the monument, but it is located within a protected zone.

It emerged that the authorities carried out the inspection back in April after receiving complaints from residents. The Akimat demanded that the hotel owner cease work and rectify the violations. In May, a request was sent to the prosecutor's office of the Medeu District to hold the limited liability partnership accountable.
