In Astana, 207 illegal dumps were eliminated, and over 270,000 tons of rubbish were removed. More than 149 units of special equipment were used in the works.

According to the press service of the city administration, the most rubbish was removed in the Nura district – 99,000 tons from 24 dumps, and in the Yesil district – over 82,000 tons from 54 dumps. In the Baikonur district, 53 dumps (25,000 tons of rubbish) were eliminated, in Saraishyk – 32 dumps (32,000 tons), in the Almaty district – 28 dumps (20,000 tons), in Saryarka – 16 dumps (19,000 tons).

Alongside the city cleanup, authorities have strengthened monitoring of offenders.

"The fight against spontaneous dumps is waged not only through elimination, but also through enhanced control and holding offenders accountable. Mobile groups and the IKomek system, which records violations, are actively working in the city," the statement said.

As it became known, for dumping rubbish in unauthorised places, individuals and enterprises are fined from 100 to 1,000 MCI (from 393,200 tenge to 3.9 million tenge).

A repeat violation within a year carries a fine of from 200 to 2,000 MCI (from 786,400 tenge to 7.8 million tenge).

Over 7 months of the current year, the capital's police department brought 11,250 offenders under Article 434-2 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Pollution of public places") totalling over 380 million tenge in fines, and under Article 505 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Violation of landscaping rules") – 19,570 offenders totalling 34 million tenge.

At the same time, an additional sanction involving the confiscation of vehicles and other items used for rubbish removal is provided for offenders. This is expected to prevent the emergence of new illegal dumps and improve the environmental situation in the city.

Recall that earlier, a video spread on social networks showing cement mixers dumping concrete residue directly onto the ground on a vacant lot in Astana.

Shortly before this, the editorial board of FBRK received a video of concrete being dumped on a boulevard under construction on Anet Baba Street. The culprit turned out to be a certain LLP "Ns Tekhgroup".
