Activists from the «Zhana Adamdar» public movement have placed a portrait of the Deputy Akim of the Yesil District, Madiyar Nugerbekov, made from rubbish at an unauthorised dump site in Astana.

On their Instagram page, the activists reported that they had discovered a large unauthorised landfill in the Yesil District, for which authorities plan to allocate funds for its clearance only by 2028.
“This means residents of the residential complex are condemned to live next to a rubbish dump for at least another three years. The site was recently fenced off, but that hasn't stopped the stream of vehicles bringing waste. And then tractors arrived and ploughed up the landfill,” the statement reads.
To draw the official's attention, the activists created an installation at the dump site measuring 50 m², depicting a portrait of Madiyar Nugerbekov.
“I assume you don't want to be associated with a dump, and you will remove your portrait, along with the whole rubbish pile. But if you continue to ignore the complaints from residents of the ‘Capital Park’ residential complex, don't be surprised if you see this portrait at your home or office. You certainly won't be able to scrub off that shame. The ball is in your court,” the statement says.
At the same time, the activists noted that since the start of the year, they have identified 221 illegal dumps in Astana.
Recall that in early December we reported on the new capital's waste removal operator - «Zero Waste» LLP, whose rubbish trucks were spotted dumping waste at an unauthorised location.
Later, it was reported about the company «Shalkar Innovations» LLP, which, it turned out, had provided Zero Waste LLP with GPS devices for continuous monitoring of municipal vehicles.
At the time, we noted that the GPS tracking system records all stops made by rubbish trucks, including dumping at unauthorised sites, yet no measures have been taken by the company to prevent these violations.
