The Ministry of Water Resources has developed a draft project "On the establishment of a non-commercial joint-stock company "National Hydrogeological Service 'Kazhydrogeology'" (NCJC). The agency will be created to digitalise all processes and stages of underground water resource management.
According to zakon.kz, the organisational procedures for establishing the NCJC will be undertaken by the state property and privatisation committee of the Ministry of Finance, as well as the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
"According to the resolution, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ministry of Finance must approve the charter of the National Hydrogeological Service, register the organisation with the judicial authorities, select a person to sign documents on behalf of the service for state registration, carry out financial and economic activities, and represent the organisation's interests before third parties until its management bodies are created", the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, stated that the current share of underground water use in Kazakhstan's economy is 7-10%. According to him, the creation of the NCJC will allow for more active use of resources for drinking water supply, irrigation, and pastoral livestock farming.
The draft project has been published on the "Open NLA" portal for public discussion until 19 April 2024.
