In the Mangystau region, as part of the republican environmental campaign 'Clean Kazakhstan', 17,714 administrative offences have been identified since April last year.
According to the press service of the regional police department, law enforcement officers discovered 21 illegal spontaneous landfill sites. Recommendations regarding these facts were submitted to the relevant authorities and local executive bodies.
The police also identified 21 lorries that were illegally dumping construction waste in unauthorised locations. The vehicles were placed in an impound lot.
As a result, under Article 505 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ('Violation of rules for the improvement of territories of cities and other populated areas'), 12,313 administrative offences were recorded. Under Article 434-2 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ('Pollution of public places'), 5,401 were recorded.
For context, previously, residents of apartment buildings at Kazybek bi Street 7 and Kazybek bi Street 7/2 in the capital complained about a construction company carrying out work on the site of a future eco-park near Lake Maly Taldykol.
The residents claimed that KAMAZ trucks were entering the site and pouring out concrete residue, dumping spent asphalt and other construction waste on the lake shore. In support of their claims, they recorded a video from the construction site.
