In Zhezkazgan, employees of a heat and water supply company held a protest, demanding improved working conditions.
According to the Telegram channel «ZTB|QAZAQSTAN», one of the main reasons for the utility workers' action was low wages.
«According to the utility workers, on average they receive 220,000 tenge in hand, but many are not paid their insurance, which means people cannot see a doctor», the statement said.
Furthermore, some workers face problems with pension contributions. They say this prevents them from taking out a mortgage or a loan.
It is reported that, in turn, the company's management and the city mayor are asking the utility workers to “be patient”.
Recall that in May in the city of Kulsary, people took to the streets in a rally. Around 300 people set up tents and spent the night near the district akimat. The residents demanded 400,000 tenge per square metre for their homes flooded during the spring floods, instead of the 240,000 tenge promised by the government.
Six days later, the rally ended. The protesters stated that they had decided to end it because they feared provocations and the politicisation of the rally.
