In the IT school-lyceum of the city of Kosshy, Akmola Region, mathematics and history teachers got into a fight right within the walls of the educational institution. The incident occurred back in April, but the parties to the conflict only recently contacted the police.
According to the Telegram channel "Halyqstan", mathematics teacher Bekarys Zhaksybaev claims that he allegedly accidentally touched a colleague's face while trying to greet him. In response, history teacher Ilyas Ibragim took this as an insult and suggested settling the matter in the gym. During the fight, Zhaksybaev suffered a fractured jaw, and Ibragim suffered a broken nose and haematomas.
However, none of the teachers sought medical help immediately after the incident. It is reported that the school administration did not call either an ambulance or the police, as the parties did not raise the issue officially.
Only after the story became public did the school announce its intention to hold a pedagogical council and investigate the circumstances of what happened. The police have now launched an investigation. The inquiry will determine the degree of guilt of each participant in the conflict.
The Council on Pedagogical Ethics reviewed the behaviour of both teachers. By its decision, history teacher Ilyas Ibragim was dismissed. Mathematics teacher Bekarys Zhaksybaev did not attend the council meeting due to being on sick leave, so his case was postponed.
The council recommended that the school director Nurken Shakhmetov terminate the employment contracts of both teachers for violating the law "On the Status of a Teacher" and the norms of pedagogical ethics.
However, in the end, the director himself was also dismissed. For improper performance of official duties, Shakhmetov received a disciplinary sanction in the form of a severe reprimand, and his employment contract was terminated.
