Another school in Kokshetau did not welcome students on 1 September. Construction of the new building for 500 pupils on the site of the demolished Secondary School No. 10 began back in November last year.
According to the Telegram channel «HALYQSTAN», the project is being implemented as part of corporate social responsibility: all costs for the construction and equipping of the facility were borne by Kazzinc LLP, without drawing on budget funds. However, despite ambitious plans, the school has still not been handed over for operation.
At the very start of construction, a representative of the contractor AlmatyEnergoStroy LLP, Talgat Khamitov, assured that the company would complete the project a month and a half ahead of schedule, and that in terms of equipment, the school would be able to compete with modern «comfort schools». But the promises were never fulfilled — the facility was not ready for 1 September, nor for October.
Recently, the construction site was visited by the chairman of the city maslikhat, Dastan Akimov, and the deputy mayor of Kokshetau, Aigul Nugertayeva. The inspection revealed serious problems.
The main ones are a significant delay to the schedule and arrears in paying the construction workers' wages. In addition, it emerged that the general contractor is effectively absent from the site, and oversight by the client — the city's construction department — has not been provided.
Earlier, a scandal erupted in Kokshetau over the regional specialised boarding school-lyceum «Bilim – Innovation». By the start of the academic year, parents and teachers were expecting the opening of a new building, but the contractor once again missed the completion deadline. After two weeks of online learning, school pupils were forced to return to the old building.
