MP Bakytzhan Bazarbek reported that Kulibayev is attempting to recover this sum after his company lost a plot of land on the territory of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, where the entrepreneurs planned to build a business centre.
The MP told this during a plenary session of the Mazhilis of Parliament. Bazarbek expressed outrage at the unsystematic work of local executive bodies in granting land.
According to him, this could result in multi-billion tenge lawsuits against officials who, at the time, made unlawful decisions.
"In the high-profile case of the return of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University lands, Timur Kulibayev's company, having lost the land for building a business centre by court decision, has billed the Almaty city administration for 34 billion tenge. So, having lost the court case, this company now wants to recover its illegal investments in the construction of the business centre. And this will happen everywhere, with all projects where mayors illegally provided land plots," said Bazarbek.
Furthermore, regarding the above facts, the MP asked the Prosecutor General's Office to provide a legal assessment of the actions of state bodies and to take measures.
Recall that in June, Bazarbek spoke about the alienation of lands of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. He claimed that companies controlled by Kulibayev, OMIREX and ATLAS DEVELOPMENT, had already had two land plots on the university's territory taken away from them by court decision.
He also stated that court proceedings are ongoing regarding another university land plot, where limited liability companies controlled by Kulibayev had already built a 9-storey business centre.
