An inspection by the Ministry of Education revealed that this year 58 schools in the country were operating without a licence for educational activities.
According to the press service of the department, 17 of these have been brought into compliance with the requirements for educational activities. The remaining schools received fines.
Most of the schools without licences were identified in Astana and Almaty, as well as in the Atyrau, Almaty, West Kazakhstan, Turkestan, Mangystau and Zhambyl regions.
"According to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan 'On Education', all schools must obtain permission before commencing educational activities. The absence of a licence means that the school has not passed an inspection for compliance with requirements or has not submitted documents to obtain permission. The right to engage in educational activities arises for educational organisations from the moment a licence is obtained. If a school does not obtain a licence within six months of state registration, it is subject to closure by court order," emphasised the committee chairman, Yernur Dauyenov.
It became known that to obtain a licence, a school must have an appropriate material and technical base, a qualified teaching staff, comply with sanitary, epidemiological and fire safety standards, and also organise medical care for students.
"Failure to comply with these requirements is grounds for administrative penalties and, in the event of repeated violations, for the suspension of the educational institution's activities," the statement said.
The authorised bodies sent letters to regional akimats and heads of education departments demanding measures be taken to eliminate the violations.
Recall that in June, the prosecutor's office of the Yesil district of the Akmola region identified violations in the activities of local schools. At that time, 22 individuals were brought to administrative responsibility under Article 425, Part 1 of the Administrative Code (violation of the requirements of legislation in the field of sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population, as well as hygienic standards) and fined a total of 4,596,540 tenge.
