As part of the implementation of Presidential directives, approximately 7.5 billion tenge was allocated from the Special State Fund for medical projects in the Karaganda region.
According to the government press service, the bulk of the funds — 6.2 billion tenge — was directed towards equipping the surgical and intensive care unit of the new Oncology Centre in Karaganda with modern medical equipment. An additional co-financing of 1.74 billion tenge has been provided from the regional budget. The facility is currently around 70% complete, with internal finishing works underway.
In the city of Balkhash, an inter-district medical hub is being established on the basis of a multi-specialty hospital undergoing major renovations. More than 1 billion tenge was allocated for the project, with the total cost of works amounting to 1.27 billion tenge.
As part of the project, construction of an additional wing is being completed, which will house an angiography operating theatre and an admissions and diagnostics department. The facility is 96% complete. Major construction and engineering works have been finished, and commissioning is scheduled before the end of this year.
Furthermore, a children's rehabilitation centre is being established in Balkhash. A total of 272.1 million tenge has been allocated for repurposing a former sanatorium building. The project includes opening an inpatient unit and organising outpatient consultations.
“A multidisciplinary team of narrow-specialty professionals is being formed, including rehabilitation specialists, neurologists, speech therapists, and physical therapy instructors. This will provide children with access to quality rehabilitation without the need to travel to the regional centre. Completion of the works is planned for February 2026,” the statement said.
It is expected that the implementation of these projects will improve the accessibility and quality of medical care in the region.
In particular, the launch of the angiography operating theatre should ensure the provision of emergency high-tech care to patients with heart attacks and strokes in Balkhash. In turn, the children's rehabilitation centre will ensure continuous restorative treatment for children in their place of residence without the need to travel to the regional centre.
It should be recalled that the government previously allocated 15.4 billion tenge from the Special State Fund for water supply projects in the Zhambyl region. A total of 12 projects are planned, of which four have already been completed, and the remaining eight are scheduled to be handed over before the end of this year.
