Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has ordered the allocation of 39.9 billion tenge from the government reserve for the construction and modernisation of medical facilities under the National Project “Modernisation of Rural Healthcare”.
According to the government press service, the plan includes the construction of 655 primary healthcare facilities and the modernisation of central district hospitals. The national project is being implemented in fulfilment of the President’s instruction, announced in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan.
“Project financing is carried out based on applications submitted by regional akimats, as project and estimate documentation becomes available. In this regard, funds from the government reserve amounting to just over 39 billion 987 million tenge will be allocated for the construction of 297 primary healthcare facilities in rural settlements for which project and estimate documentation is ready. These include medical centres, feldsher-midwife points, and medical outpatient clinics”, the statement reads.
In addition, part of the allocated funds is planned to be spent on:
- completing major repairs to the maternity ward building of the Arkalyk Regional Hospital;
- major repairs to two blocks of the Stepnogorsk Multidisciplinary City Hospital;
- major repairs to the main building of the Atbasar Multidisciplinary Interdistrict Hospital;
- starting major repairs to the Central Hospital of the city of Balkhash;
- construction of an extension to the main building for an angiography operating theatre and installation of an angiography unit at the Multidisciplinary Hospital of the city of Balkhash;
- reconstruction with an extension to the building of the Shieli Multidisciplinary Central District Hospital and construction of an infectious diseases ward with 30 beds on the same site.
