The Investment and Entrepreneurship Development Department of Astana has again put the hotel complex «Comfort Hotel Astana» up for sale. Previously, in cooperation with the investigation, it was handed over to the state by businessman Kairat Boranbayev.
The previous auction did not take place due to a lack of bids from participants. The repeat tender has been scheduled for 25 April. The starting price, as last time, is 3,919,431,715 tenge. The guarantee deposit is 587.9 million tenge. Sale to a single bidder is permitted.
The tender conditions also remain the same - the new owner must use the hotel complex strictly for its intended purpose and have no less than 7 years of experience managing hotels in Kazakhstan.
For context, in October 2023, Kairat Boranbayev handed over the «Comfort Hotel Astana» hotel complex, worth more than 1.4 billion tenge, to the state. Later, the mayor of Astana, Zhenis Kassymbek, announced that the hotel was to be transferred to the balance sheet of the city administration.
At the same time, he stated that there was no need to repurpose the facility for social services, noting a shortage of hotels of this standard for tourism purposes.
