The Comfort Hotel Astana hotel complex, which was previously handed over to the state by Kairat Boranbayev, has a new owner.
According to the electronic trading platform, the tender for transferring the hotel into trust management with the right to buy it out was deemed to have taken place on 25 April. The new owner paid 3.92 billion tenge for the hotel. In accordance with the terms of the tender, they have at least 7 years of experience in hotel management in Kazakhstan.
It has been reported that the winner of the tender will be able to buy out the hotel early no sooner than one year from the date of signing the contract, provided all obligations are met.
For context, in October 2023, Kairat Boranbayev handed over the Comfort Hotel Astana hotel complex, valued at over 1.4 billion tenge, to the state. Later, the Mayor of Astana, Zhenis Kassymbek, announced that the hotel would be transferred to the balance sheet of the city administration.
At the same time, he stated that there was no need to convert the property for social services, noting a shortage of hotels of this standard for tourism purposes. However, the expected auction did not take place due to a lack of bids from participants. Subsequently, a repeat tender was scheduled for 25 April.
