In the Akmola region, a police officer and the director of a Limited Liability Partnership were convicted for a simple scheme involving vehicles. For over a year, they illegally registered cars imported from abroad. The damage amounted to 380 million tenge.
According to ORDA, a police inspector and his accomplice - the director of the LLP - were involved in the illegal registration of heavy goods vehicles from December 2020 to January 2022.
“According to the criminal scheme, the director of the LLP collected a package of documents, fabricated fake payment orders, and submitted them to the Specialised Public Service Centre. With the assistance of the police officer, the woman obtained vehicle registration certificates and state licence plates, and then issued them to the owners”, the press service of the Akmola Regional Court reported.
It has been reported that the police officer received between 50,000 and 100,000 tenge for each car. Law enforcement officers established 55 such instances.
“The amount of material damage amounted to approximately 380 million tenge”, the court added.
Ultimately, the court found the director of the LLP guilty and sentenced her to 5 years imprisonment. The police officer received 2 years and 6 months' imprisonment. They were also banned from holding managerial positions for 3 years.
Incidentally, the court also issued a special ruling to the prosecutors of the Akmola region; now the supervisory body must conduct an inspection of the officials of the state corporation “Government for Citizens” in Kokshetau.
