The Aktau court examined a criminal case against the director of Aktau Oil Services Company LLP (ANSC) and the director of Oil and Gas Production Division No. 3 of JSC OzenMunayGas (OMG). They were accused of embezzling and misappropriating other people's property on an exceptionally large scale.
According to the press service of the Mangystau Regional Court, in 2018 the two companies entered into a contract for the provision of equipment rental services for a well. However, the head of ANSC violated the terms of the contract and did not purchase the equipment.
Instead - with the aim of theft and to avoid fines - he used the client's equipment and thus unjustifiably received rental payments. The director of ANSC obtained consent from the head of OMG.
As a result, the state suffered damage amounting to 130,108,118 tenge. According to the court's press service, the director of ANSC disposed of the money at his own discretion.
At the same time, the director of OMG knew full well that ANSC LLP was using equipment belonging to his enterprise. He deliberately did not exclude the rental amount from the contract and signed the certificates of completed work for the full value.
In the end, the court found both directors guilty and sentenced each to 8 years in prison with a ban on holding managerial positions in commercial organisations in the oil and gas industry for 10 years.
