In Taraz, the acting head of the branch of the State Institution «Centre for Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Zhambyl Region» has been convicted.
«On 10 September this year, the verdict of the Taraz City Court No. 2 was announced in respect of the acting head of the branch of the State Institution «Centre for Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Zhambyl Region», A.O. Makhasheva, and the personnel inspector of the same branch, L.T. Kalmuratova.» - reported the press service of the Anti-Corruption Service.
They were found guilty of accepting a bribe on a significant scale from an individual for employment as a paramedic.
The court sentenced them to 4 and 3.6 years of imprisonment respectively, with deprivation of the right to hold positions in the civil service and the quasi-public sector for life. The court verdict has not entered into legal force.
«On the basis of Part 1 of Article 74 of the Criminal Code, the term of serving the sentence has been deferred for 4 years due to the presence of young children,» - the court concluded.
Recall that in early August, the former First Vice-Minister for Emergency Situations, Ibrahim Kulshimbayev, was sentenced to 5 years for abuse of power. According to the investigation, Kulshimbayev forced subordinates to build his own house.
In July, for corruption, the head of the department of the committee of industrial safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Pavlodar region, K. Temirkhanov, was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment. He was accused of accepting a bribe totalling 1.3 million tenge from the head of an enterprise.
In May, the Anti-Corruption Service completed an investigation into the chairman of the fire service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the heads of the Department of Emergency Situations of Shymkent and the Zhetysu region. Officials are suspected of receiving bribes from an entrepreneur totalling more than 40 million tenge. The investigating court authorised a preventive measure of detention for the suspects.
Incidentally, in August 2023, during a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Service, Askhat Zhumagali, stated that every second head of Ministry of Emergency Situations units commits corruption offences.
