In Atyrau, lawyer Arman Zhamenov was convicted on charges of fraud and corruption.
According to the Telegram channel «Nege.Aqsha», he promised a convict early release in exchange for a bribe of 1.3 million tenge.
From this sum, 300,000 tenge he planned to keep for himself, supposedly for providing legal services, and 1 million tenge would be passed on as a bribe to employees of the Department of Criminal Correctional System (DUIS) and the regional court.
In court, Zhamenov pleaded fully guilty. According to him, he took this step due to a lack of funds. He said his wife and children were undergoing treatment, and so he urgently needed money.
«He didn't want to lose his significance in the eyes of his family as a father. The tears of his wife and his own helplessness drove him to commit the crime», reads the case materials.
The court found Arman Zhamenov guilty of attempted embezzlement and incitement to give a bribe, sentencing him to 1.5 years of restricted freedom.
Recall that in February, a verdict was handed down for former Minister of Culture and Sports Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, his wife Galiya Iskakova, and lawyer Mukhtakhim Tuleyev.
The ex-minister's wife was charged with mediation in the transfer of 220 million tenge to lawyer Tuleyev. According to the investigation, the lawyer allegedly assured the couple that the funds would be used to influence the court's decision.
In the end, Mukhamediuly was found guilty of attempting to give a bribe, and his previous sentence was increased from 8 to 11 years in prison.
