The inter-district criminal court of Astana has announced a verdict against the former director of the representative offices of LLP "Aştyq qoimalary", "Grain Base No. 2" and "Grain Base No. 5" M.E. Zhusupov.

According to the press service of Anti-Corruption, he was found guilty of embezzling state reserve stocks of food grain worth more than 160 million tenge. He was also accused of negligence which led to the spoilage of 996 tonnes of grain valued at approximately 118 million tenge.

The court sentenced the former director of the representative offices to 8.5 years imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Additionally, the convicted man was deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service and in entities of the quasi-public sector.

Recall that in May, the inter-district criminal court of Astana issued a ruling against the director of the financial department of JSC "Prodkorporatsiya" N.G. Zhumadilov and the chief specialist G.Zh. Abenov

They were suspected of receiving a bribe from a businessman for providing document collection services, as well as for facilitating the signing of a contract for the provision of a commodity loan (grain).

Ultimately, the court sentenced the defendants to a fine totalling 48 million tenge, with a lifelong ban from holding positions in the civil service and in entities of the quasi-public sector.
