Anti-corruption officials conducted a review into the appropriateness of using budget funds in the Aktobe region and identified a number of violations during the construction of several facilities.
According to Ratel.kz, agency staff established that in a school in Shalkar, built last year for 1.3 billion tenge, the sewage pumping station and ventilation system are still not working. Furthermore, the school grounds have not been landscaped, and there is not even an outdoor sports area.
In addition, it is reported that a tuberculosis hospital with 300 beds, built for 500 million tenge, is not being used at all.
Along with it, a school currently under construction in the 'Shilisai' residential area has also turned out to be unnecessary. It has emerged that the school is designed for 1,200 children, yet the total number of school-age children in Shilisai is only 88 children.
Already, 1.8 billion tenge has been spent from the budget on the educational institution, but the construction department has been unable to complete the project for five years. The education department also struggled to answer how the construction of the facility was planned and where they intended to find the missing pupils.
In another case, in the village of Zharyk in the Mugalzhar district, 350 million tenge was allocated from the budget for gasification and the construction of a water supply system. As a result, gas was never connected, and the water supplied through the pipeline does not meet sanitary standards.
"The Anti-Corruption Service previously asked the regional akim to deal with the officials responsible for these facts. But to this day, these employees continue their careers without any problems in local executive bodies," the journalists concluded.
