A government commission has been set up to investigate the crash of the aircraft near Aktau.

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has established a commission to investigate the causes of the crash of the AZAL airline aircraft.

According to Press.kz, its members include the Deputy Prime Minister, the Akim of the Mangystau Region, the Chief Transport Prosecutor, and the heads of the ministries for emergency situations, transport, health, foreign affairs, internal affairs, labour and social protection of the population. 

The commission was instructed to immediately fly to the scene of the incident, conduct an investigation into the causes of the aircraft's crash, and take measures to provide assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured.

Meanwhile, the number of survivors of the air disaster has risen to 32 people. As reported by political scientist Syrym Itkulov, the entire crew of the aircraft perished. According to his information, there were 69 people on board.

For context, near Aktau, an aircraft of the Azerbaijani airline AZAL, which was travelling from Baku to Grozny, crashed. According to preliminary information, the aircraft lost control after a collision with a bird. On board the aircraft were citizens of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan
