The Shakhtinsk thermal power plant was fined approximately 400,000 tenge for disrupting the heating season.

According to media reports, since January residents of Shakhtinsk had been complaining about the cold in their apartments. Throughout this time, the plant's management and representatives of the city akimat assured residents that the enterprise was operating stably.

However, an unscheduled inspection by the Department of Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control of the Karaganda Region disproved this.

"Based on the results of the unscheduled inspection, the following was established: at the CHP plant of Shakhtinsk Teploenergo LLP from 16.02.24 to 22.02.24, the approved temperature schedule for the heat supply system was not observed. The requirements of clause 579 of the Rules for Technical Operation of Power Stations and Networks, approved by order of the Minister of Energy, were violated... Thus, an administrative offence was committed under Article 300 of the Administrative Code," the statement said.

As a result, Shakhtinsk Teploenergo LLP was fined 369,200 tenge. It is reported that the enterprise has already paid the fine.
