The Aktobe branch of JSC "Intergas Central Asia" was fined 1.2 billion tenge for environmental pollution.
According to the press service of the Aktobe region prosecutor's office, the regional ecology department conducted an inspection of the company and found that at the Bozoi underground gas storage facility in the Shalkar district, two wells were drilled without the necessary environmental permits.
Under the law, emissions into the atmosphere and waste disposal are only permitted with a special permit for emissions into the environment.
"Emissions without a permit are considered excessive and entail administrative liability with a fine of ten thousand percent of the waste disposal fee rate in relation to the amount of waste accumulated or disposed of in excess of the established limit," the statement said.
Following the inspection, four administrative cases were registered against the company, resulting in a fine of 1.2 billion tenge.
Part of the fines — 20 million tenge — were paid voluntarily by the enterprise, while the remaining amount was challenged in court. The decisions of the courts of first instance and appeal upheld the orders imposing the fines.
Under the law, the company is obliged to pay the remaining 1.1 billion tenge within a month, otherwise, recovery will be enforced.
Recall that in October in Kyzylorda, the first deputy director of the main gas pipeline management department of JSC "Intergas Central Asia" was convicted. He was found guilty of causing damage to LLP "Orda Glass Ltd" in the amount of 60.1 million tenge. It was reported that Nurbolatuly inflated the estimated cost and signed fictitious certificates of completed work.
