School No. 8 in the city of Shchuchinsk, Akmola Region, received a report on the morning of 21 April about a planted explosive device. In an email sent to the institution's address, an unknown individual threatened to 'send everyone to heaven'.
According to the Telegram channel 'Halyqstan', the school administration organised the evacuation of pupils and staff. Officers from the police department, including explosives specialists, are working at the scene. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the deliberately false report of an act of terrorism.
The Education Department of Akmola Region reported that a further 12 schools in the Burabay district had received similar letters. Lessons at all these institutions have been suspended.
