Exclusive collector’s watches were sold at auction for 35 million tenge.

Unique Patek Philippe, Cartier and Chopard watches have been sold through the state platform E-Qazyna. However, some lots did not find buyers due to non-compliance with auction conditions.

On 28 February, electronic trading on the E-Qazyna platform for the sale of six exclusive wristwatches from recovered assets came to an end. Following the auction, three unique premium models were sold for a total of approximately 35 million tenge.

The true highlight of the auction was the Patek Philippe World Time Chronograph Green Mecca Edition watch — a limited edition model in 950 platinum, produced specifically for the Saudi Arabian market in a run of just 150 pieces. This rarity was sold under the hammer for 16.9 million tenge.

An equally impressive lot was the Cartier Ballon Bleu Tourbillon watch — an exclusive model with a skeletonised dial and tourbillon, produced in a limited worldwide edition of 50 pieces. The new owner acquired this watch for 13.3 million tenge.

The third lot sold was the ladies' Chopard Imperiale watch — an exquisite white gold model set with sapphires and diamonds. The cost of this lot was 4.8 million tenge.

However, the auction was not without complications. The winner of three out of six lots did not sign the results protocols within the timeframe stipulated by the regulations, leading to the cancellation of results for these items. The auction organisers stated that these lots may be put up for re-auction in the near future.

According to the auction terms, within 10 working days the auction winners and organisers must conclude official sales and purchase agreements. The transfer of the acquired assets will take place only after full payment for the lots.

The sale of exclusive watches is just one part of a large-scale programme for the disposal of recovered assets. Previously, the 'Company for the Management of Recovered Assets' announced the holding of new electronic auctions in March, featuring 63 pieces of jewellery. Of particular note are the 'De Beers' earrings in white gold with diamonds weighing a total of 6.06 carats. The starting price for this lot will be 158.1 million tenge.
