In the Turkistan Region, a court has sentenced a group of individuals involved in the theft of state subsidies for livestock development. The case was investigated by special prosecutors from the region's pre-trial investigation department and was sent to court after all the circumstances of the criminal scheme had been established.
According to the press office of the agency, four employees of the district veterinary service and residents of one of the rural settlements illegally entered data into the information system regarding nearly 100,000 heads of small cattle, which in fact did not exist.
Based on the falsified data, they received 271 million tenge in subsidies and divided the money among themselves.
The Turkistan City Court found five individuals guilty of fraud and document forgery. Four defendants received custodial sentences — 5.2 years' imprisonment each. Another defendant was sentenced to a restriction of liberty, after which proceedings against him were terminated following the application of a pardon act.
An amount of 50 million tenge was recovered in favour of the state, and the convicted individuals' property was seized to the value of 120 million tenge.
The regional prosecutor's office reminds that the embezzlement of subsidies allocated from the budget is a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years.
Recall that previously in the Kostanay Region, three residents of the Beimbet Mailin district were convicted. They were found guilty of embezzling state subsidies for livestock feed and selective breeding work totalling more than 96 million tenge.
