The prosecutor's office of the Karabalyk district in the Kostanay region has uncovered a case of embezzlement of budget funds by an accountant from the apparatus of the akim of the Novotroitsk rural district.
"During a reconciliation of the staffing table and bank accounts, a discrepancy was found between the entitled and actually paid salary of the accountant, who had been overpaying herself for four years," the press service of the department reported.
The damage caused by the suspect's actions amounted to 9.8 million tenge. The district prosecutor's office has initiated a pre-trial investigation under paragraph 1, part 3, article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Embezzlement on a large scale").
The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of restriction of liberty for a term of 2 to 7 years, or imprisonment for the same term.
"Additional penalties include confiscation of property, as well as deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to six years," the department noted.
Law enforcement officers are carrying out the necessary investigative measures.
Recall that earlier in the Turkestan region, a sentence was handed down to three managers and eight accountants from the Saryagash district education department. They were found guilty of embezzling 550 million tenge by transferring salaries to people who were not actually working in the education sector.
