The Prosecutor's Office of the Turkestan Region has sent a criminal case to court against 43 officials and employees of the education department of the Maktaaral District.
According to the press service of the department, they are suspected of embezzling over 2.4 billion tenge from the budget.
"The embezzlement was committed by the illegal transfer of salaries to the accounts of individuals not working in the education system", the statement says.
To date, the suspects have compensated the state for damages amounting to 333.5 million tenge. In addition, law enforcement officers have seized property obtained through criminal means worth 649.7 million tenge.
Recall that in December 2024, in the Turkestan Region, for the embezzlement of 84.3 million tenge, convicted were the director of the Maktaaral Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Disabilities, Nurzhan Suleimenov, and the chief accountant, Madina Nauryzbayeva.
