An incident involving violence against a healthcare worker occurred at Kostanay Regional Hospital. This was reported by the institution's press service.
According to Informburo.kz, the attack took place after a complex operation. The surgeon went down to the emergency department to continue seeing patients. One of those waiting in line was acting aggressively and struck the doctor in the head. As a result, the medic lost consciousness.
The victim was taken to the intensive care unit. His condition is assessed as serious. Police officers arrived at the scene. Investigative actions are underway.
The hospital stated that they regard the incident as a crime against a person who saves lives every day.
"We demand a fair investigation and call for respect for medical workers!" the hospital declared.
It should be recalled that this is not the first case of aggression against healthcare workers in the country. In January 2024, 36-year-old Nurbolat Dakebayev beat an ambulance driver in Karaganda. In August of the same year, he was found guilty of intentionally causing moderate harm to health out of hooliganism and was sentenced to two years in prison.
In November, an ambulance paramedic from Stepnogorsk, Svetlana Oksyuta, reported being attacked while on a call. The perpetrators went unpunished.
Later in December, it was reported that in Kostanay, ambulance paramedic Anel Baimurzina was beaten while on a call. The medic sustained a concussion and bruising.
In June of this year, a case of violence against medical workers was also recorded at the Karaganda Regional Children's Hospital. Then, a 38-year-old resident of the region attacked two doctors. The incident occurred during a verbal altercation. The affected medics sustained bodily injuries.
In July, an ambulance paramedic from the Baizak District Central Hospital in the Zhambyl region sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. He was shot by an acquaintance with whom he had a dispute over a defibrillator.
