In Kostanay, an ambulance paramedic Anel Baimurzina was beaten while on a call. The medic sustained a concussion and haematomas.
According to Alau.kz, the incident occurred during a night-time ambulance call. Complaints of shortness of breath and heart problems had been reported. According to the victim, the patient's relatives immediately became aggressive. Furthermore, the medic stated that the attackers hindered resuscitation efforts.
"We started doing our job — providing first aid. But the patient's daughters interfered with us, threatening that if we did anything, they would curse us and have us sent to prison. Afterwards, the patient suffered a respiratory and cardiac arrest; we began resuscitation measures. After 30 minutes of effort… resuscitation… was unsuccessful. We expressed our condolences. They started lunging at me, kicking me, grabbing my hair, and hitting me. My fellow paramedic and the driver tried to protect me from these women, but they were stronger and more aggressive. After my cries for help, the driver ran to the flat opposite and asked the neighbours to call the police. All this time, they held me by my hair and beat me. Then the neighbour came to help and saved me from the hands of this woman.", Anel Baimurzina recounted.
The press service of the Kostanay Regional Police Department reported that a criminal case has been opened.
"It has been established that at the time of providing first aid, a conflict arose between the residents and the medics, during which women aged 41 and 51 inflicted bodily harm on the paramedic," the regional department reported.
The police have ordered a forensic medical examination. The investigation is being conducted under the article "Assault".
Recall that in January, a video appeared on social media in which 36-year-old Nurbolat Dakebayev brutally beat an ambulance driver in a Karaganda courtyard. Subsequently, his arrest was reported. He was detained at one of the winter camps in the Karkaraly District. Later, the beaten driver published a video message in which he stated that he forgives his attacker.
Later, it became known that the police reclassified Dakebayev's actions as hooliganism. This was on the grounds that the forensic medical examination allegedly established that the victim's bodily injuries were classified as minor in severity.
However, the victim disagreed with this and filed a civil lawsuit, demanding 5 million tenge from the defendant as compensation. According to the driver, he sustained more serious injuries than the forensic medical examination determined.
In August, Nurbolat Dakebayev was found guilty of intentionally causing moderate harm to health from hooligan motives and was sentenced to 2 years' imprisonment in a minimum-security penal institution.
In November, Stepnogorsk ambulance paramedic Svetlana Oksyuta spoke about being attacked while on a call, but nobody faced punishment for it. The incident occurred back in August. According to Oksyuta, after she arrived at a call regarding epileptic seizures in a young man, a woman and her daughter began beating her in the courtyard of the house. It was noted that the police registered proceedings regarding the infliction of bodily harm on the paramedic on the day the medic filed the report. The investigation is still ongoing.
