Court No. 2 in Atyrau has heard a criminal case against the chief accountant of a city clinic. She is suspected of embezzlement.
According to the press service of the Supreme Court, the defendant embezzled more than 573 million tenge between 2012 and 2023, transferring it to personal bank accounts.
"She legalised these criminally obtained funds by concluding transactions in the form of money transfers. The clinic suffered damage on an especially large scale," the statement said.
The defendant, partially admitting her guilt, requested a more lenient sentence. During the court proceedings, she compensated 3 million tenge.
The court found the former accountant guilty and sentenced her to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property acquired with the criminally obtained money.
In addition, she was banned from engaging in activities involving financial and material liability for 10 years.
