A special commission investigating the tragedy at the YDD Corporation LLP plant in Karaganda found the employer guilty of the accident that resulted in the deaths of four workers.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, commission members reached this conclusion after studying technical documentation, the results of the site inspection, witness interviews, the expert organisation's report, and other materials.
"The enterprise did not adequately take urgent measures to prevent the impact of traumatic factors, nor were safe working conditions and systems for monitoring workers' compliance with rules, instructions, and technological discipline adequately established", the statement said.
The results of the investigation and all collected materials will be handed over to law enforcement agencies. At the same time, the commission strongly recommended that the company's management take measures to eliminate the causes of the accident and prevent incidents in the future.
"According to information from the employer, all financial matters relating to the employer's obligations, as well as the provision of other assistance to the close relatives of the deceased and the victims themselves, have been resolved. In addition, the employer provided gratuitous financial assistance to the close relatives of the victims", the ministry reported.
Let us recall that on 20 July, an industrial accident occurred at the 'YDD Corporation' ferroalloy plant in Karaganda – a flame eruption, as a result of which eight workers were injured, four of whom died.
The founder of the plant is the well-known businessman Yerlan Nigmatulin, who is the brother of former Majilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin.
