In the capital branch of JSC "NC" Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ) - "Directorate of Automation and Digitalisation", inspections revealed instances of employees engaged in fictitious employment.
As reported by the company's press service, the inspection materials were forwarded to law enforcement agencies, and the Anti-Corruption Service conducted a pre-trial investigation.
During the investigation, it was proven that the company's losses due to these "dead souls" amounted to 21 million tenge. The period over which this occurred was not disclosed.
It is noted that the formally employed individuals, on the instructions of the branch head, were allegedly involved in the construction of a private residential house.
"KTZ was recognised as the injured party. The case materials are currently being reviewed in the inter-district criminal court of Astana", the press service stated.
Recall that in July, it was reported that this year, the senior management of KTZ received remuneration of 789.6 million tenge. Last year, the company's top managers received 200 million less.
At the same time, in June, the head of the Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC) Alikhan Smailov stated that the KTZ company is unable to fulfil its obligations and is in the "red" credit risk zone. He noted that at the beginning of 2024, the company's debt amounted to 2.9 trillion tenge and continues to grow. According to him, 45% or 1.3 trillion tenge of the total debt was allocated to refinancing previously undertaken debt obligations.
Later, the Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev commented on the information regarding KTZ's large debts. He said that since 2020, the national company has been profitable. He acknowledged that there was a loss-making period before, and the debt of 2.9 trillion tenge arose because the state had not allocated funds.
At the same time, the Managing Director for Economics and Finance of JSC "Samruk-Kazyna" Aidar Ryskulov stated that the company does not consider KTZ's aforementioned debt to be critical, as claimed by the SAC.
