The management of JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ) received remuneration of 789.6 million tenge this year. Last year, the company's top managers received 200 million less.

According to Bes.media, these payments were made against the backdrop of the national company's losses of 2.9 trillion tenge.

KTZ, for its part, said that top managers receive remuneration which depends on the "level of responsibility for the issues under their purview, goals, development priorities, and shareholder expectations".

Earlier, the head of the Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC) Alikhan Smailov stated that the KTZ company was unable to meet its obligations and was in the "red" zone of credit risk. He noted that at the beginning of 2024, the company's debt stood at 2.9 trillion tenge and was continuing to grow. He also said that 45%, or 1.3 trillion tenge, of the total debt was used to refinance previously incurred debt obligations.

Later, the Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev commented on the information about KTZ's large debts. He said that since 2020, the national company has been profitable. He acknowledged that there had previously been a loss-making period, and that the debt of 2.9 trillion tenge accrued because the state did not allocate funds.

At the same time, the Managing Director for Economics and Finance of JSC "Samruk-Kazyna" Aydar Ryskulov stated that the company does not consider the aforementioned KTZ debt to be critical, contrary to what was stated by the SAC.
