In Semey, a court heard a criminal case registered on the grounds of stalking.
According to the press service of the Abai Region police department, a local resident had been tracking the victim's private life for a long time, unlawfully intruding into her personal space and exerting psychological pressure.
By court verdict, the man was found guilty under Article 115-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Stalking"). He was fined 30 Monthly Calculation Indices (117,960 tenge), and special behavioural requirements were imposed on him for a period of 10 months.
Law enforcement authorities remind the public that stalking is a criminal offence that violates a person's personal boundaries and threatens their safety.
The police department urged citizens to:
- respect the personal space and rights of others;
- resolve conflict situations exclusively within the legal framework;
- immediately contact law enforcement authorities if signs of stalking or threats thereof appear.
It is worth recalling that criminal liability for stalking in Kazakhstan was introduced in July of this year. Previously, one of the cases involved a resident of the Kurmangazy District of the Atyrau Region, who climbed into a local woman's yard at night, spied on her through the window, and engaged in indecent acts.
The media also reported on a case in Makinsk, Akmola Region, where a 44-year-old woman contacted the police due to obsessive stalking by her former lover.
